ScholarScripts, RemedyOne's philanthropic arm prides itself on achieving better outcomes by providing support and financial assistance to worthwhile organizations that encourage community enhancement through the educational and healthcare sectors.
This year ScholarScripts is proud to announce that 100% of the Spooktacular Digital Halloween Costume Contest will benefit Team IMPACT. Team IMPACT is the only U.S. nonprofit that brings together sick kids and college sports teams to ensure no child is sidelined by sickness. Team IMPACT tackles the emotional trauma and social isolation experienced by children facing serious and chronic illnesses by matching them with a college athletic team. Through their two-year therapeutic program, that complements a child's medical treatments, children develop relationships and skills that help them complete the full circle of healing.
Team IMPACT and ScholarScripts are committed to helping families like Xavier in our communities. Nearly three years ago, eight-year-old Xavier, of Ludlow, MA, became the youngest Yellow Jacket to sign with the AIC D-I men's ice hockey team. He joined the team through Team IMPACT in January 2017.
Xavier was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia just shy of his third birthday. He has been in remission for five years. His fellow Yellow Jacket teammates were committed to making a difference in Xavier's life by promoting the digital Halloween contest and collecting votes.
In 2019, Xavier, swept the Spooktacular Costume Contest with the help of the AIC Yellow Jackets Team. Xavier's costume, an AIC Yellow Jackets Team IMPACT Halloween (pictured), was voted best costume overall. As a result, Xavier was awarded the grand prize of a $1,500 scholarship at a "big check" presentation. Xavier was joined by members of the AIC Yellow Jackets ice hockey team immediately following practice at the MassMutual Center to receive his monetary prize.
